13 Things I Learned on January 13

Hamilton may just be my new favorite musical.

enough said, it’s fabulous.

To make a shredder work, it has to be plugged in.

again, need I say more?

There is nothing the 💯 emoji won’t suffice for.

Sometimes the student can also be the teacher.

I actually had to show one of the Governor’s staff members how to use his auto-penning machine today. Very humbling in a seemingly very small way.

JOY COMES IN THE MORNING, No matter how bad everything is (or seems to be) at night.

Psalm 30:5 “Though the sorrow may last for the night, His joy comes with the morning”

Pain is Fleeting.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “That’s why we are not discouraged. No, even if outwardly we are wearing out, inwardly we are being renewed each and every day. This light, temporary nature of our suffering is producing for us an everlasting weight of glory, far beyond any comparison, because we do not look for things that can be seen but for things that cannot be seen. For things that can be seen are temporary, but things that cannot be seen are eternal.”

Strength (Faith) is lasting — God’s strength and the strength of our faith in Him;

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

“Higher than the mountains that I face

Stronger than the power of the grave

Constant through the trial and the change”

(One Thing Remains, Jesus Culture)

“Greater is the one who’s in us

Greater is the one who calls our name

He will never fail

Stronger is the one within us

Stronger is the one who fights for us

He will never fail

You will never fail

For Your love endures forever

Oh Your love endures forever

Open up our eyes, surround us with Your light

Your love endures forever”

(Open Up Our Eyes, Elevation Worship)

God is our Cornerstone, and our Strength

Psalm 37:24-25 “Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.”

Even in the midst of our suffering, God’s will is being done.

1 Peter 5:9-10 “Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

THERE WILL BE A DAY…

“There will be a day with no more tears,

No more pain, and no more fears

There will be a day when the burdens of this place

Will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face

But until that day,

We’ll hold on to you always”

(There will be a day, Jeremy Camp)

WE (and the future) WILL CONTINUE ON

Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

God is our SONG inside the STORM

“Jesus

The first name that I call

Let it be Jesus

My song inside the storm

I’ll never need another

For me, to live is Christ

For me, to live is Christ

God I breathe Your name above everything

Let it be, Let it be Jesus”

(Let it Be Jesus, Passion)

And most importantly, ALL things work TOGETHER for OUR GOOD

Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

the realization: I am Not Alone

“I am not alone

I am not alone

You will go before me

You will never leave me”

(I Am Not Alone, Kari Jobe)

“Our God is fighting for us always

Our God is fighting for us all

Our God is fighting for us always

We are not alone, we are not alone

We are not alone, we are not alone

We are not alone, we are not alone”

(Open Up Our Eyes, Elevation Worship)

the plan:

“I will call upon Your name

Keep my eyes above the waves

My soul will rest in Your embrace

I am Yours and You are mine”

(Oceans, Hillsong United)

a prayer for today:

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders

Let me walk upon the waters

Wherever You would call me

Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander

And my faith will be made stronger

In the presence of my Savior”

(Oceans, Hillsong United)

###

Psalm 50:15 “Call to me in times of trouble. I will save you, and you will honor me.”
